This past Lord's Day at the First Baptist Church in Elsberry was filled with joy mixed with sorrow. We sangs songs of praise and adoration to God for His majesty and His saving work through Christ on the cross. We heard the Scriptures read aloud and explained. And we remembered Christ crucified for us, risen and coming again as we partook of the Lord's Supper. But in additional to all that, we also said goodbye to Keith and Judy Palmer, two longstanding and very active members in our church family, who are moving away to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren. During the announcement time of our meeting the elders and deacons presented the Palmers with a plaque in appreciation for all their service to our church and the community. Afterwards, the elders and deacons, along with members of their Home Group, laid hands on them and prayed for them.
Our sermon yesterday was entitled "God's Work Week" from Genesis 1:1-2:3. It's part two in our new series "Foundations" covering the first 11 chapters of the book of Genesis which are foundational to the Christian faith and a right understanding of the world in which we live. Here is that audio of that message:
Here is the audio from the first week of the series as well:
